About This Blog:

The primary purpose of this blog is to showcase the best of my aviation photography. As such, you will find links to my main aviation gallery on Facebook containing photos from aircraft spotting, some kind of aviation event such as air shows and fly-in events, as well as aviation museums. I also critique my flights on commercial airlines and the services they provide. Occassionally, you'll find personally written, independent articles based on news and current events involving aviation. And of course, I'll put up links to official and unofficial aviation-related websites when I find them. And when time permits, I'll talk and discuss about anything involving aviation. But most importantly, this is my way to document my journey into the aviation industry!

Gallery Update: Ramp Shots from Wendover

I flew into Wendover as part of a group fly-in today to log some cross-country flight hours. After arriving and getting a bite to eat, we toured the airfield a little bit and got to see a few unique things.

Preview:

The Platinum Aviation planes that flew in today; I came in the Piper PA-28-140 Cherokee Cruiser (N7625F) while my flight instructor and one of his students flew in the Diamond DA40 Diamond Star (N321PF). Photo taken from the historical control tower overlooking the airfield.

Fairchild C-123K Provider (N709RR) "Jailbird" on display, the same one used for all the ground scenes from the movie Con Air.

British Aircraft Corporation (BAC)/Hunting Aircraft Jet Provost 3A (N374XM) tucked away inside the hangar that housed the famous B-29 Superfortress, "Enola Gay." We were given exclusive access by a staff member from the FBO into the hangar, so special thanks to the good folks of the Historic Wendover Airfield foundation!

Swift Air Boeing 737-4B7 (N440US) on a casino charter taxiing out for departure as SWQ803 for Portland, Oregon. Wendover Airport sees on average one charter flight a day as Swift Air offers charter flights to various cities across the United States and Canada from Wendover as part of a package deal to bring tourists to local casinos using their 737s. Quite thrilled to see a member of the 737 Classic family again as they've all been retired from regularly-scheduled airline service here in the states!

Douglas C-54E Skymaster (N8502R) parked on the ramp. This one got moved since I last saw it at the Wendover Air Show last September.

SWQ803 departing on 08 for Portland, my home turf! Airframe formerly with US Airways until July 2014. Swift Air acquired the airframe in September 2014.
