About This Blog:

The primary purpose of this blog is to showcase the best of my aviation photography. As such, you will find links to my main aviation gallery on Facebook containing photos from aircraft spotting, some kind of aviation event such as air shows and fly-in events, as well as aviation museums. I also critique my flights on commercial airlines and the services they provide. Occassionally, you'll find personally written, independent articles based on news and current events involving aviation. And of course, I'll put up links to official and unofficial aviation-related websites when I find them. And when time permits, I'll talk and discuss about anything involving aviation. But most importantly, this is my way to document my journey into the aviation industry!

Gallery Update: No Airport Activity, Lots of Boredom

Being the last day of May, I figured I ought to post an update, no matter how small it may be... Thanks to the Legacy Flight Museum, I planespotted from Rexburg-Madison Airport more times than any other location when it come to the number of albums I've created. Business was slow today at the museum so I did get bored. I decided stepped out onto the ramp to take a few photos and it really is just a few photos; airport activity was pretty much dead today. Nevertheless, here's the link:

Let's see how many more Rexburg (RXE) albums I'll get to before I head home from school.

Gallery Update: Visitors in Rexburg

When you're at it for a while, it becomes easy to tell which aircraft on the ramp is local and which one is a visitor. In this case, Rexburg-Madison County Airport got an interesting visitor today while I worked at the museum. Here's the link to the latest gallery:

The most unique visitor to RXE today was this Waco Classic YMF-F5C (N880WP), which touched down at RXE, parked with engine running, and then taxied back out for departure.

Gallery Update: Memorial Day Tracker Flight

Happy Memorial Day! The Legacy Flight Museum started summer operations and since I had the day off from school today, I figured I'd work at the museum. The Grumman Tracker went for another flight, specifically for several fly-overs in honor of the Memorial Day tributes. I took photos and added some videos. Here are the links:

Gallery Update: Grumman Tracker Test Flight

The Legacy Flight Museum had their Grumman S2F-1 Tracker for a year and hasn't flown since it arrived. That all changed today, after painstaking work by museum volunteers to get it fully flight worthy (and ultimately ready for the upcoming air show), it took off for it's first test flight after arrival at the museum a year ago. And that only means one thing: I took pictures (and video). Here are the links:

Gallery Update: More Rexburg Airport/Legacy Flight Museum Activity

As air show time is now two weeks away, things have gone into fever-pitch as far as museum and airport activities are concerned. This was a good day to be at the museum so you can say I was in hog heaven! In this case, Bob Hoover's old P-51D Mustang 'Ole Yeller' and a T-6 Texan nicknamed Lil' Ashlee took to the skies allowing for some great photography opportunities. The museum's Grumman Tracker, with repairs and maintenance since acquisition nearly complete was also rolled out of the museum hangar for the first time in a while. All in all, it was a good day and I got a lot of new photos. Here's the link so you can see for yourself:

North American T-6 (SNJ-5) Texan (N6900C) nicknamed "Lil' Ashlee" after engine start-up. As you can see, she's smokin' hot! Most T-6s I've seen are painted so it's kind of neat to see a bare-metal schemed one. Not only that, but this Texan has a three-bladed propeller.

Gallery Update: Rexburg Airport Activity

Nothing too significant but I got a chance to step inside the maintenance hangar for the flight museum today and got to see the Mormon Mustang during it's annual inspection. Also saw quite a bit of unique activity around the airport as well. Here's the link:

Gallery Update: Making Progress...

Today, we had the Legacy Flight Museum's T-6 Texan take to the skies for a fly-over at a funeral so I took the opportunity to snap some photos; I gotta say, some of my photos turned out pretty good. I suppose since it's a slower aircraft, the T-6 Texan is relatively easy to photograph even while it's in movement. Things are moving along for the museum as well. Here are the new and updated links respectively:

The Beechcraft Staggerwing FINALLY got it's propeller back on!

The Grumman S-2 Tracker has also been making progress; it's propellers are back on and the landing gears are now retractable.

And landing later the same day.

I really nailed these three shots of the Texan and I'm quite pleased with the results! Less than one month until the Legacy Air Show!

Gallery Update: Ole Yeller Takes to the Skies

Spent the whole day at the museum and it was a busy but fun day! Ole Yeller needed to be prepped for a flight so that afforded me opportunities to snap more photos, in addition to fulfilling my duties as a volunteer, of course.

It' doesn't get any better than this; front row seats!

John Bagley brought N51RH in for a much-appreciated fly-by! Like I said, it doesn't get any better than this!

Gallery Update: A Beautiful Day in Rexburg

Another Friday afternoon, another good day to hang out at the museum! It was a gorgeous day so I just couldn't resist in taking a few pictures around the tarmac. I even photographed a Rockwell International Turbo Commander that was visiting; I tend to look out for aircraft that are clearly not local here and I guess you can say I scored with the Turbo Commander. Here's the link:
