About This Blog:

The primary purpose of this blog is to showcase the best of my aviation photography. As such, you will find links to my main aviation gallery on Facebook containing photos from aircraft spotting, some kind of aviation event such as air shows and fly-in events, as well as aviation museums. I also critique my flights on commercial airlines and the services they provide. Occassionally, you'll find personally written, independent articles based on news and current events involving aviation. And of course, I'll put up links to official and unofficial aviation-related websites when I find them. And when time permits, I'll talk and discuss about anything involving aviation. But most importantly, this is my way to document my journey into the aviation industry!

Gallery Update: Forecast Calling for 'Aluminum Overcast'

There was a unique thing happening at Salem-McNary Field today. The Experimental Aircraft Association's (EAA) Boeing B-17G Flying Fortress known today as "Aluminum Overcast" is on national tour and they're stopping in Salem this week for a few days. The B-17 was hosted by the B-17 Alliance Group at their restoration facility so in addition to the flying B-17 and the regular planespotting, the museum was open during the tour and that allowed opportunities to see sections of the B-17 Alliance's own B-17 called the Lacey Lady, which is being restored in Salem. Here are the links for today:

I've waited years to see this B-17, considering that only about a dozen or so are flying.

Inside the ball turret. Tight squeeze! And props to the guys who flew in World War II for their bravery in this position!

With the B-17 Alliance's facility here in Salem, I'm hoping to see more events such as this. With Warbirds Over the West earlier this summer and having this B-17 stop here on tour, the B-17 Alliance Group is doing a great job getting their name out there!
