About This Blog:

The primary purpose of this blog is to showcase the best of my aviation photography. As such, you will find links to my main aviation gallery on Facebook containing photos from aircraft spotting, some kind of aviation event such as air shows and fly-in events, as well as aviation museums. I also critique my flights on commercial airlines and the services they provide. Occassionally, you'll find personally written, independent articles based on news and current events involving aviation. And of course, I'll put up links to official and unofficial aviation-related websites when I find them. And when time permits, I'll talk and discuss about anything involving aviation. But most importantly, this is my way to document my journey into the aviation industry!

Gallery Update: Chasing Wide-bodies at PDX!

Last night, I noticed on FlightRadar24 that a United Airlines Boeing 777-200 was scheduled to fly into Portland on a military charter. On top of that, it looked to be a good day to go spotting for a Thursday on a summer day (in spite of the fact that air travel is still down and recovery is still at a plateau due to the repercussions from the COVID-19 pandemic!) so I decided to make the trip despite the fact I was tired from work!

Aside from the United Triple 7, I also finally saw Cathay Pacific's new, modified livery on one of their Boeing 747-8Fs, as well as a few special liveries I've been waiting to get. I also got some military aircraft action as well!

United Airlines Boeing 777-222/ER (N223UA) arriving on 28R as UAL2572 from El Paso. My first time photographing a United Triple 7 200-series! Better yet, this is one of the legacy-United Triple 7s!

On board is the first of two groups of Oregon National Guard members of Task Force Arrow after a yearlong mobilization overseas in Qatar. The Task Force underwent a COVID-19-mandated 14-day quarantine at Ft. Bliss, Texas before being flown to PDX.

Since United doesn't fly their Triple 7s out to PDX on any scheduled flights, this was quite a treat to catch! UAL2572 taxied over to the Boeing ramp to offload the taskforce.

Oregon Army National Guard Eurocopter UH-72A Lakota (12-72237) airborne after departing from the FBO ramp. Based out of Salem and was in PDX running circuits in the Class Charlie airspace.
