About This Blog:

The primary purpose of this blog is to showcase the best of my aviation photography. As such, you will find links to my main aviation gallery on Facebook containing photos from aircraft spotting, some kind of aviation event such as air shows and fly-in events, as well as aviation museums. I also critique my flights on commercial airlines and the services they provide. Occassionally, you'll find personally written, independent articles based on news and current events involving aviation. And of course, I'll put up links to official and unofficial aviation-related websites when I find them. And when time permits, I'll talk and discuss about anything involving aviation. But most importantly, this is my way to document my journey into the aviation industry!

Pilot Life: Local Night Flight

I haven't flown in over a week! My last flight was at night to fulfill my cross country requirements for the Instrument Rating checkride and since then, weather hasn't been all that cooperative (I'll be glad when I FINALLY earn my Instrument Rating, which apparently come fast enough!) so I haven't been able to fly at all since then. It's a new month and I finally get a weather window late in the day, so I ended up going on a local night flight. I decided to do some night landings in Corvallis.

Local night flight in N5174E.

After a quick, yet thorough pre-flight, I got airborne and made my way to the southwest. I picked up the weather from the AWOS frequency and entered the left downwind for Runway 35 after crossing over the Corvallis Municipal Airport at midfield 500 feet above pattern altitude. I did two smooth touch-and-go landings before heading back to Albany, where I made my full-stop landing.

After clearing off the runway in Albany, I decided to forego refueling the plane and taxied straight back to the hangar since it was dark outside. After putting the plane away, I went home. I'll have to make sure to keep a close eye on the weather from here on out so I can take advantage of every good weather window I can get. Hopefully, I'll get enough good flying days to get some more training flights in with my instructor as well.
