About This Blog:

The primary purpose of this blog is to showcase the best of my aviation photography. As such, you will find links to my main aviation gallery on Facebook containing photos from aircraft spotting, some kind of aviation event such as air shows and fly-in events, as well as aviation museums. I also critique my flights on commercial airlines and the services they provide. Occassionally, you'll find personally written, independent articles based on news and current events involving aviation. And of course, I'll put up links to official and unofficial aviation-related websites when I find them. And when time permits, I'll talk and discuss about anything involving aviation. But most importantly, this is my way to document my journey into the aviation industry!

Gallery Update: Mid-Afternoon Spotting at PDX

My sister was coming home for a few months for the duration of the upcoming holiday season and was flying into PDX today. I was the one picking her up from the airport, so I made a spotting trip out of it. There really wasn't much in the ways of spotting highlights on this trip other than the fact weather (especially for this time of year) was pretty decent. I did get to see an Air Force C-17 Globemaster III depart as well as a Delta Air Lines A321 in a special livery. I'll let the photos speak for themselves.

Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-8H4 (N8612K) arriving on 28R as SWA5019 from Denver.

United States Air Force Boeing C-17A Globemaster III (06-6154) "Spirit of Solano" airborne off 28R as "BLINR89" for McChord Air Force Base up in Tacoma, Washington. Based at Travis Air Force Base in Fairfield, California with the 60th Air Mobility Wing (60 AMW).

Jazz Air (d/b/a Air Canada Express) Bombardier DHC-8-402Q Dash 8 Q400 (C-GJZF) airborne off 28R as JZA8653 for Vancouver.

Delta Air Lines Boeing 767-332/ER (N179DN) arriving on 28R as DAL713 from Atlanta.

It's been so long since I saw a Delta 767-300. With reduced international travel demand, these long-haul workhorses have stayed busy doing domestic hops.

Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-7H4 (N217JC) arriving on 28R as SWA6046 from Phoenix Sky Harbor.

SkyWest Airlines (d/b/a Delta Connection) Embraer ERJ-170-200LR E-175LR (N297SY) taxiing for departure as SKW4053 for Seattle-Tacoma.

United Airlines Boeing 737-824 (N76508) arriving on 28R as UAL2633 from Houston-Intercontinental.

UAL2633 clearing 28R. This is only my second time catching a 737-800 in United's "evo-blue" livery.

UAL2633 pulling up to the gate.

N8612K airborne off 28R following a quick turn-around as SWA4077 for Chicago Midway.

Boutique Air Pilatus PC-12/45 (N7YR) airborne off 28R as BTQ904 for Sacramento. No, Boutique Air did not start regularly-scheduled service between PDX and Sacramento! This is a ferry flight as part of the airline's aircraft rotations between their different Essential Air Service (EAS) route networks.

Delta Air Lines Airbus A321-211 (N391DN) sporting their "THANK YOU" livery arriving on 28R as DAL729 from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Delta dedicated this airframe to all 90,000 of their employees in early 2020 following a $1.6B profit sharing payout, which was a record.

The words "THANK YOU" are composed of the names of the 90,000 employees stenciled in.

On the nose of the A321 reads, "Dedicated the world's best employees & customers."

DAL729 clearing 28R and taxiing to the gate. Definitely a nice touch by Delta to their employees.

Delta Air Lines Boeing 737-932/ER (N838DN) arriving on 28R as DAL1369 from Salt Lake City. My sister was on this flight!
