About This Blog:

The primary purpose of this blog is to showcase the best of my aviation photography. As such, you will find links to my main aviation gallery on Facebook containing photos from aircraft spotting, some kind of aviation event such as air shows and fly-in events, as well as aviation museums. I also critique my flights on commercial airlines and the services they provide. Occassionally, you'll find personally written, independent articles based on news and current events involving aviation. And of course, I'll put up links to official and unofficial aviation-related websites when I find them. And when time permits, I'll talk and discuss about anything involving aviation. But most importantly, this is my way to document my journey into the aviation industry!

Happy Centennial Anniversary to The Boeing Company!

On this day 100 years ago on July 15, 1916, William Edward Boeing who would become an aviation pioneer, founded The Boeing Company in Seattle, WA. The company would cement itself as an aerospace giant in the United States and as one of the two largest passenger aircraft manufacturers (the main competitor being Airbus). The company is among the largest global aircraft manufacturers, is the second-largest defense contractor in the world, and is the largest exporter in the United States by dollar value. In 100 years, Boeing went from wood and fabric planes and pioneered the concept of an all-metal construction airplane. The company eventually became known for iconic aircraft that has made history such as the B-17 Flying Fortress during World War II and jets like the Boeing 707 that ushered in the commercial jet age and subsequently led to newer designs such as the 747, known as the Queen of the Skies or 737, often referred to as the "Baby Boeing." The 20th Century was full of great innovations pioneered by Boeing. And now in the 21st Century, Boeing is once again at the forefront of pioneering the next big aviation concept which includes composite materials, starting with the Boeing 787 Dreamliner.

In celebration of Boeing's 100th anniversary and for some history of the company, check out the five-part documentary series, The Age of Aerospace created as a collaboration between Discovery Communications (the Discovery Channel) and Boeing!

"Wild Card" Aviation Photography wishes The Boeing Company a Happy 100th Birthday! Congratulations for achieving 100 years of operation! As an aviation enthusiast and budding pilot, I look forward to seeing all the new aircraft and technologies the company has in store in the years to come!

Meanwhile, Airbus has just one thing to say to Boeing:

That's what I call class! This is capitalism at it's finest, when two aerospace giants promote fair and healthy competition that drive each other to do better. Well said Airbus! And congratulations again to Boeing for 100 years in operation, and for 100 years worth of incredible and iconic aircraft and aerospace marvels!
